Creating a World Class Skills and Apprenticeship System

We are The St Martin's Group

The St Martin’s Group is a unique membership organisation created to support the UK economy by fostering a sustainable, quality-focused and employer-led apprenticeship and skills system.

Launched in 2018, the Group brings together stakeholders from some of the UK’s leading employers, training providers and awarding organisations from across all sectors and levels of qualification, which together are representative of the UK’s delivery infrastructure. Since 2021, with encouragement from key stakeholders, the Group has expanded its aims to include the wider adult funded skills market.

These efforts will ensure the Group and its members are able to promote increasing collaboration and engagement in the sector for the benefit of all stakeholders.

Overcoming Barriers to Opportunity: Stimulating Growth in UK Apprenticeships

The St Martin’s Group has published a new report highlighting the need to protect and expand apprenticeship opportunities in the UK. The report, titled “Overcoming barriers to opportunity; Stimulating Growth and Unlocking Supply in UK Apprenticeships,” underscores the growing demand for apprenticeships and the critical steps needed to meet this demand.

Against a backdrop of skills reform, with the introduction of the new Growth and Skills Levy and establishment of Skills England, there is a risk that apprenticeship numbers decline as employers opt for alternative training pathways for their workforce. Access the report using the link below.

Enabling Better Outcomes: A Wider View of Apprenticeship Success

The St Martin’s Group is pleased to publish its new report ‘Enabling Better Outcomes: A Wider View of Apprenticeship Success’, which investigates what apprenticeship success looks like to employers.

This report, which builds on our previous report which shared the apprentice perspective on apprenticeship outcomes and destinations, finds that 99 per cent of employers recognise the benefits of offering apprenticeships, but face barriers in supporting apprentices to complete them.

A Manifesto for our Future Skills System

The St Martin’s Group is pleased to publish its ‘Manifesto for our Future Skills System’. It outlines specific commitments which include measures for broadening participation, simplifying careers advice, enhancing the employer voice, promoting innovation, and establishing a stable and sustainable funding system.
