Open University launches its annual Business Barometer

The St Martin’s Group member the Open University has launched its annual Business Barometer. The Barometer, based on a survey of 1,500 senior organisation leaders, is a temperature check on the UK’s business landscape across the different nations, regions and sectors.

Whilst the report maps out issues around skills gaps more broadly it contains some important information on apprenticeships, highlighting that 95% of employers currently working with apprentices plan to maintain or increase the number of apprentices within their organisations next year. It also highlights that 56% of employers believe that apprenticeships and work-based learning are critical to their long term success.
